His formal spiritual studies began at 17, when he joined the Rosicrucian Fellowship of Max Heindel, inspired by Le Comte de Saint Germain; and The Arcane School, founded by Alice A. Bailey, and inspired by the Adept, Djwhal Khul.
After serving in the US Fifteenth Air Force during World War II and receiving four Air Medals, he intensified his spiritual studies, and was honored at age 23 by a visitation from Sanat Kumara, Lord of the World, which he was unable to accept as true at the time.

Throughout this period, he was the UN representative of each of these organizations.
In 1973 while in Iceland, Donald awakened to the Angelic Realm, which led to his giving the “World Warrior Workshops” annually at the Findhorn Community in Scotland.
The originator of ICIS was a Swedish national who was a senior figure in the Ashram of Lord Morya, with whom Donald Keys worked from 1958 until shortly before his death in the 1970’s. At the same time Mr. Keys studied with Geshe Wangyal from Lhasa, Tibet; and . with Sri Chinmoy Kumar Ghose, from the Aurobindo Ashram in India, who conducts meditations at the United Nations. In 1974, Mr. Keys received a visit from a member of the Hindu Trinity, Lord Shiva, just before he was given the name, “Brahmananda.”
During the years of his work at the United Nations, Donald Keys was a speechwriter for Secretary-General U Thant, for Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Carlos P. Romulo, and other diplomats. He prepared an Annual Rei;:,ort on the work of the UN, and issued year-end scores on the contributions – the “World Order Values”, of individual States.
In 1980, noting the upcoming global “mega-crisis” of enviroment, economics, government and armament, Mr. Keys originated a world-wide program, the “Planetary Initiative for the World We Choose” which culminated in 1983 in a Congress in Toronto, Canada, with 500 people representing three hundred groups from 20 countries.
Upon his return to Mount Shasta, California in 1986, Donald Keys has continued and deepened his spiritual work, resulting in inner world experiences in various hidden retreats around the world, including Shamballa; aboard ma1or space craft of the Intergalactic Fleet that supports Earth, with solar and extra-solar Lords or Dieties, and in distant star systems.
Donald’s present concern is that of readying humanity for the transitions that Earth, and therefore Humanity, have immediately before them .
