Planetary Citizens – Co-Creating Holistic Systems Symmetry

Planetary Citizens® is a global activity dedicated to fostering unity, sustainability, and a higher sense of collective responsibility for the well-being of our planet and, more important, its people.

Our model is based on  Spiral Dynamics and the Co-Creation Wheel, yet as a portal, not a structure. You will disappear. And what remains will build the next world. A recursive function is a function that calls itself within its own definition to solve a problem – the ONE in the Many.

Co-creating holistic systems symmetry for sustainable infrastructure is possible today. It’s about loving and being loved in ways we were designed to embody, yet unable to manifest to date. This is the recursive function within each of us that IS change; a true  New World Order, one that works for everyone.

In a real sense, it’s just energy and FLOW – Facilitating Limitless Opportunities for Well-being to emerge: a truly optimal experience. Quantum physics validates the ‘field’ and energy in operation based on root patterns of harmonization. Today, in our lifetime, we CAN develop a  Type 1 Civilization and its mindful activities with our combined efforts. Each of us have a part to discover and learn how to play together.

Donald Keys (12 December 1936 – 7 March 2015) was a pioneering advocate for Planetary Citizenship, calling humanity to recognize itself as a single family living within an interdependent, living Earth system.

Long before global consciousness became a common conversation, he articulated the moral and cultural shift required to move beyond nationalism, fragmentation, and short-term thinking toward shared stewardship of the planet and responsibility for future generations. His insight was simple and profound: the challenges facing humanity were not merely technical or political, but ethical—signals that our worldview had outgrown itself.

Rather than proposing ideology, Keys emphasized care as the foundation of a global ethic: care for Earth, care for one another, and care for the systems that sustain life. He understood that citizenship must extend beyond borders to include responsibility for the whole of life on a shared planet.

Planetary Citizens explicitly picks up where Donald Keys’ original work left off—carrying the call for planetary responsibility into the present moment and translating it into lived practice. The New Normal reflects the maturation of his vision: an emerging recognition that humanity’s future depends on consciously choosing cooperation, stewardship, and shared belonging.

Futurist and evolutionary thinker Barbara Marx Hubbard (22 December, 1929 – 10 April, 2019) helped humanity name a truth many were sensing but could not yet articulate: that we are not merely reacting to change — we are participating in evolution. 

Through her work on conscious evolution, Barbara reframed humanity’s crises as initiation points — moments where awareness, choice, and collective creativity determine what comes next.

The “New Normal” is not a return to stability, nor a collapse into chaos. It is an invitation to evolve — individually and collectively — into a more conscious expression of our shared planetary identity – homo universalis.

Planetary Citizens carries this lineage forward by translating conscious evolution from vision into practice, from insight into lived participation. Barbara birthed the Co-Creation Wheel, with assistance from Spiral Dynamics and the quest for a holistic model of society.

 John B. Cobb Jr.  (9 February 1925 – 26 December 2024) is one of the most influential voices behind the philosophical foundations of today’s emerging planetary worldview. As a leading thinker in process philosophy, he helped articulate a reality not composed of isolated objects, but of relationships in constant evolution.

At a time when dominant systems treated nature, people, and economies as separable parts, Cobb emphasized interdependence—showing that ecological, social, and moral crises arise when relationships are ignored or exploited. His work challenged reductionist thinking and offered a relational understanding of life capable of holding complexity, responsibility, and care.

Rather than framing change as control or optimization, Cobb pointed toward participation—the recognition that humanity is embedded within living systems and co-shapes their future through choice and relationship through loving and being loved as reciprocal activities in our nature.

Planetary Citizens builds upon this relational foundation by translating process philosophy into lived practice. The New Normal reflects this shift: from fragmentation to coherence, from domination to participation, and from seeing the world as a collection of things to recognizing it as a living web in which we belong.

Primatologist and global messenger of hope Jane Goodall (3 April 1934 – 1 October 2025) transformed humanity’s understanding of our place within the living world — not through theory, but through relationship.

By meeting chimpanzees as individuals rather than objects of study, she revealed a deeper truth: that empathy, intelligence, and community are not uniquely human traits, but expressions of life itself.

In the face of ecological and social crisis, Jane has consistently reminded the world that hope is a discipline — one grounded in care, responsibility, and everyday action.

The New Normal emerges when humanity remembers that we are not separate from nature, but participants within it — and that our choices, however small, shape the future of the whole.

Planetary Citizens echoes this understanding by inviting people not only to think differently, but to live differently, in relationship with one another and with the Earth we share.

“A World Citizen is a human being who lives intellectually, morally and physically in the present. A World Citizen accepts the dynamic fact that the planetary human community is interdependent and whole, that humankind is essentially one. A World Citizen is a peaceful and peacemaking individual, both in daily life and contacts with others. As a global person, a World Citizen relates directly to humankind and to all fellow humans spontaneously, generously and openly. Mutual trust is basic to his/her lifestyle. Politically, a World Citizen accepts a sanctioning institution of representative government, expressing the general and individual sovereign will in order to establish and maintain a system of just and equitable world law with appropriate legislative, judiciary and enforcement bodies. Joan Holmes – Hunger to Handbook
